Join us beneath the palms and lush greenery of an intimate backyard oasis, lovingly cultivated by Daniel’s parents, Andrea & Winston Christian.
Here, in a garden grown with love, we’ll gather with our families and closest friends to honor the joining of two lives—and set the riddim for everything still to come.
Our chè nou, Lisane Basquiat, will guide us into the next chapter of our story as the officiant.

A Bembé is an Afro-Cuban/Yoruba term for celebration or party, one that typically takes place after an important ceremony or rite of passage. Over time it also became slang for a big-a$$ party.
Ours comes with a little masquerade twist—it is, after all, Halloween!
Make your way to Meraki for cocktails, cuban fare, and a little time to settle in –before we whine and dine you!
Enjoy some of our fave Jamaican dishes while you dine & toast to the new Mr. & Mrs., salud!
After dinner… the lights go low, the masks come on, and Dauche takes over the decks. A beloved presence in San Diego’s music scene, she’ll be guiding the riddims of the night—from dinner and drinks to the dance floor and wherever the Bembé takes us.
How kind of you! Your presence is the present. However, if you feel moved to contribute to our honeymoon or new home feel free to view our registry sites below.
Both Ceremony and Reception are being held in South Park, San Diego. We recommend a stay within 5-10 miles from the 92104 zip code.
Neighborhoods in close proximity:
While there are several hotels in the Mission Valley area, look into Airbnbs in the neighborhood of South or North park as well. These are very walkable areas and perfect for families who want to enjoy halloween activities locally.
For both local and traveling guests we strongly suggest ride-sharing, i.e. uber/lyft. It’s a busy festive evening and South Park, San Diego, is a popular location for trick-or-treaters.
If you would prefer to drive please be aware that parking will be limited.
We will be providing a shuttle service to help guests get from the ceremony to the reception venue. These will be running to and from venues through the end of the reception (10pm.)
Sure, bring the kiddos! Children are allowed at your own discretion.
Ceremony
The ceremony is being held in a private residence and we ask that you do your best to keep them and the grounds safe and clean.
Reception
We will have a special room for our younger guests to craft and play. We also encourage you to take them trick-or-treating in the lovely and historic neighborhood of South Park during cocktail hour. One good lap around the block will probably scratch that halloween itch!
Meraki – Reception
Our reception venue is an indoor space with an easily accessible patio/lot. Please be aware that smoking is not allowed inside. We will be providing guests with an open bar throughout the night thus outside drinks, food etc. are not allowed.
Wondering what to wear to a “Masquerade Bembé?” In short, evening – formal wear. Fall and earthy jewel tones encouraged. Build a party persona or elevate your outfit with playful, naughty and or whimsical accessories. HAVE FUN!
We’ll be providing masks at the reception but feel free to bring one that matches your masquerade persona. We do ask that during the ceremony you leave your masks off, don’t wanna miss ya in the fotos!
The dress code is a suggestion not a rule, dress to your comfort – we’re just happy to celebrate with you.
Picture this, Spring Break 2005 in Rosarito Mexico, a serendipitous event leads us to connect. Fast-forward nearly 15 years, lots of life lived in between and one very walkable neighborhood, another sliding door moment and we find out that we’re only a few blocks away from each other.
Over several spaces and places our paths seem to align, we connect as friends and eventually start a creative business together where we uncover how seamlessly we create together. Now, it’s 2020 and we’re part of each-other’s “pod” one loving gesture lead to another and we dove feet first into relationship, family and a life full of art, music, and adventure!
